Podiatry

Podiatry is a medical specialty dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions in the feet, ankles, and lower legs.

At AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY), our Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), or simply Podiatrists, treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis of the foot and ankle
  • Bunions – painful bony bump at the base of the big toe
  • Hammer toe – condition where the second, third, or fourth toe is bent upward from the middle joint
  • Corns and calluses
  • Toenail fungus and ingrown toenails
  • Foot fractures or sprains
  • Neuromas – pinched nerves typically found between the third and fourth toes
  • Foot or toe infections
  • Flat feet
  • Plantar fasciitis and heel spurs – painful inflammation of the tissue that runs along the bottom of your feet
  • Diabetic ulcers – internal or external foot sores caused by diabetes
  • Plantar warts

Patients should see a Podiatrist if they have persistent foot swelling or numbness, painful bunions, difficulty walking, or ingrown toenails. Patients with diabetes may also need to see a Podiatrist for regular foot exams to prevent or treat foot complications caused by diabetes.

Podiatrists can use a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures to alleviate foot pain, such as:

  • Reconstructive foot surgery
  • Setting fractures
  • Measuring and prescribing orthotics, insoles, and prosthetics
  • Ingrown toenail removal surgery
  • Amputations

At ACPNY, our Podiatrists offer comprehensive, “whole you” foot care. We consider any foot issue you’re experiencing as part of your entire health picture. And, we’ll evaluate it along will the other physical, mental, and lifestyle factors that impact your overall health. Providers and staff at our offices strive to reflect the communities we serve, so we’re committed to approaching each patient with a strong understanding of cultural considerations and common challenges to care.

ACPNY also aims to streamline communication and improve the patient experience with the myACPNY patient portal. This convenient tool allows you to instantly schedule appointments, request prescription refills, communicate with your Care Team, and much more. Plus, myACPNY includes important information about your medical and treatment history to give your provider a more accurate understanding of the whole you. We’ll also involve you in discussions about potential treatment options, including what you can do at home to help manage your condition.

For podiatry patients experiencing more severe foot issues, such as fractures, many ACPNY offices can connect you to same-day x-rays through our partnership with Lenox Hill Radiology. But, if your condition requires attention from one of our clinical care partners, we collaborate with vascular surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists from outside our practice to get you the care you need.
